Low Code isn't built for everything. zSync solves  almost everything!

Many low-code platforms are great for simple processes – but they quickly hit technical, economic, and legal limits.

zSync is our answer to these challenges: a configurable data hub in Odoo that meaningfully extends low-code principles – without the typical weaknesses.

    What zSync offers

    Technical Freedom

Configurable & extensible – without platform limits

    Full Control

    Self-hosted, GDPR-compliant, Git-based

    Predictable Costs

No per-user license fees, no add-on traps

    More about zSync

Low Code - Problems and Solutions

Low code often imposes limits or creates problems that don't arise with classic development. We see the problems and solve them. Here you'll learn exactly how!

    Technical Reasons

    Limited Flexibility

Proprietary platforms set tight limits on complex logic, data structures, or integrations.

Our solution: Our implementation makes it possible to model complex systems despite being low-code. Most implementations will need little or no code at all. Still, we allow the use of Python code in many places so any edge case can be handled. We of course support you with these, and very often these code snippets never need to be touched again.

    Technical debt

Workarounds often increase the amount of technical, hard-to-maintain legacy baggage.

Our solution: The framework has been maturing and improving since 2019. Workarounds are extremely rarely needed, and we account for them and eliminate them in future versions.

    Limited Scalability

The scalability of low-code systems is often limited.

Our solution: The framework can be installed directly in your Odoo and gets the maximum performance out of the available hardware. In practice, customers have been able to scale better with zSync.

    1. It's much easier to keep many interfaces under control within a single system.

    2. Performance is optimized for every interface from the start (self-built ones vary widely here)

    3. mutual negative effects between different interfaces are minimized

    Performance

As data volumes or user numbers grow, the platform can quickly hit performance limits.

Our solution: The framework can be installed directly in your Odoo and gets the maximum performance out of the available hardware.

For our largest customers, millions of records have been imported and hundreds of thousands of products synchronized

    Vendor Lock-in

Source code, data, and processes are often tightly bound to the platform. Switching later is expensive and time-consuming.

Our solution: zSync lets you export every interface as JSON and provides documentation of how each interface works.

zSync can be operated independently of your own Odoo deployment, which can massively simplify a future switch.

    Poor Version Control & CI/CD

No clean Git workflow, no standardized deployment pipeline, often no automated tests.

Our solution: Every interface can be transferred from test systems to live systems and back. Changes are shown and variables are respected, so each system always communicates with exactly the right counterpart.

There's also a feature to persist interfaces as code, so systems without a database can also be built with all interfaces.

This lets zSync be used in a very lightweight way, while still being very test-driven.

    Limited Integration Capability

APIs or external interfaces are often only possible via add-on modules or paid extensions.

Our solution: zSync can connect to any system. It comes with all common technologies out of the box. On top of that, even the most unusual and exotic interface can be connected with a few small steps of code.

None of this causes any extra costs whatsoever.

    Security & Compliance Risks

    Data Sovereignty & Data Protection:

Hosting usually happens on the platform provider's servers – problematic for sensitive data or GDPR requirements.

Our solution: Our solution runs inside Odoo itself, i.e. on your own platform. That gives you full control over your data.

A SaaS solution on a third-party server is possible, but is only implemented that way on explicit request and by agreement.

    Unclear Security Standards:

The source code is often not accessible. Audits or penetration tests are only possible to a limited extent.

Our solution: With us, the source code stays visible. It's protected under license. This license allows access to the Git repository, and we welcome suggestions for improvement.

    Economic Reasons

    Hidden Costs

Costs often rise exponentially with users, API calls, or storage needs (subscription models, add-ons).

Our solution: The price we commit to in our quote applies forever. There are no price increases for existing customers, ever. Should our pricing model change, it will never apply to existing customers — unless someone wants it voluntarily, e.g. if it then becomes cheaper.

License Model Unsuited for Larger Teams

With many users or complex workflows, custom development becomes cheaper.

Our solution: The license isn't based on headcount and always includes every feature. There has never been a case where custom code was cheaper than our solution. Since we allow code despite being low-/no-code, code can be used in these complex cases.

That code then describes only the exact complexity involved. All other steps stay in the framework and immediately bring all its benefits with them. In these complex cases, we get by with less custom code while still bringing all the performance, quality, and monitoring features along. So even in these cases, we've so far always been much faster than a fresh custom build.

    Organizational Reasons

Lack of Know-How in the Team

Paradoxically, developer knowledge is often still needed to work around limits or fix bugs.

Our solution: We provide fast, uncomplicated support together with our community. The solution is modular. In cases where a developer is needed, the remaining 95% of the interface can still be handled by someone without programming knowledge, keeping costs extremely low.

Processes Don't Fit the Platform Paradigm

Business processes are too individual or too regulated to be modeled with standard building blocks.

Our solution: Flexibility is at the core of our solution. Standard building blocks are adjustable, and custom building blocks are easy to create quickly. In the entire history of zSync, there has never been a use case that couldn't be implemented.

    No or Poor Offline Functionality:

Mobile use cases with offline mode (e.g. field service, production) are hard to implement.

Our solution: Since zSync is installed in your system, it keeps working. Of course, systems that can only be reached over the internet can only be reached with an internet connection — there's no difference between the approaches here.

    Strategic Reasons

    Low Differentiation

Competitive advantages are often based on individually developed software, not on standard solutions.

Our solution: zSync isn't a standard solution and can be 100% tailored to your needs. Individual advantages can be implemented exactly as with custom code — just with far less required knowledge and complexity.

    Poor Long-Term Maintainability

What looks simple today can turn into a hard-to-maintain monolith a few years down the line.

Our solution: zSync originates from a project where 140 interfaces were barely being kept running by a team of developers. After moving to zSync, maintenance needs dropped to 20% of one person's working time. 20 interfaces built by different people, in different styles, possibly in different programming languages with different quality standards, are in practice harder to maintain than in zSync.

    Lack of Control Over Updates

Platform updates can change or disable features – with no way to influence it.

Our solution: The license grants access to the repository. Whether and when to update is 100% in the customer's hands.

zSync is Low Code – but without the typical weaknesses

As you can see, we believe in low-code – when it's implemented properly.

But many platforms hit limits when it comes to complexity, scale, or maintainability.

    zSYNC starts exactly there:

    • easy to configure thanks to low-code
    • Extensible through development
    • Versionable, documentable, independently hostable

Our customers choose zSYNC because it's low-code – yet open, scalable, and maintainable long-term.
